Following Canada’s first K-12 mass tragedy, Safer Schools Together (SST) has been directly involved in leading the immediate response, recovery, and resiliency efforts alongside education and community partners. This work has provided SST with a unique perspective on the immediate and longer-term challenges facing Canadian schools and communities following a critical incident.
As SST continues to consult on multiple Threat Assessment cases daily, it is critical that all School Safety/Threat Assessment teams are equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to understand the role technology is contributing to the overall level of risk. Safety/Threat Assessment teams should be able to determine the role and impact of AI, radicalization, and Nihilistic Violent Extremist (NVE) groups in our Canadian school communities. Over the last 5 years, SST has seen a significant increase in case files handled by our Threat Analyst team in these areas of concern.
With nearly 90% of today’s threats occurring online, we are reminded of the critical importance of ensuring an analysis of a threat maker’s digital behavior. As we continue to strengthen school safety efforts, a commitment to education and awareness is essential for ensuring safe and caring school communities across Canada.

SST’s general cancellation policy states that tickets for their training sessions are non-refundable. If specific cancellation policies apply, they would typically be detailed at the time of registration or on the event’s information page.
Safer Schools Together (SST) reserves the right to cancel or reschedule training. If SST cancels or reschedules training due to weather or unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of SST, you are entitled to a full refund, but SST is not responsible for travel arrangements, travel fees, or any expenses incurred by you as a result of such cancellation. If SST cancels a training in which you are enrolled, you will be contacted at the email address you provided when registering, so please be sure to provide a valid email address.
Any cancellation or transfer made by a participant needs to be in writing. If the registration fee has already been paid, a credit will be applied for a future training course unless a refund is specifically requested by the agency at the time of cancellation. A $50.00 administrative fee will be applied for any refund processed, and a $25.00 transfer fee will be charged for any transfers between classes or attendees. Any request for a refund must be done 10 days prior to the training date.
An email will be sent to attendees 2 business days prior to the event date with the necessary training information. Please look out for this email and check your spam/junk folder in case it is routed there.
If you can no longer attend a training after registering, you should contact SST directly as soon as possible. While the general policy indicates that tickets are non-refundable, we may provide options, such as transferring your registration to another session or another individual, subject to their terms and availability.
