Now, more than ever, the digital and social media world has flowed into the classroom and school environment. This changing landscape has had positives for learning but has also had a multitude of negative implications on a school’s culture and climate. This staff session covers staff and student online safety as well as the permanence of digital tattoos. This presentation also compliments the Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support (PBIS) framework.

Training will include:
• Recognizing and responding to cyberbullying
• Staff professional and personal use of social media
• Guidelines around interacting with students online
• Suggestions to help continue valuable post-presentation discussion with students

I have taken numerous SST trainings and have been thoroughly impressed with each one.  When school/student-focus workshops come available, I strongly suggest to my teachers that they engage with SST.  Highly recommend all SST training!

This program is such an important resource for not only schools, but parents and kids themselves.  Our world is inundated with so much social media that it is massively important to understand the power it holds, both in risk and reward situations.  Programs like Safer Schools should be an integral part of all teacher’s professional development portfolios, to help create a safe, nurturing and aware school community.

Safer Schools Together has always delivered high-quality, up-to-date, and relevant information about all things digital that hooks all participants right from the get-go! They recognize that Digital Citizenship Education is a community effort and that the impact is more powerful when students have multiple trusted adults they can discuss issues with, and when they’re hearing the same message reinforced both at home and in school. We are very impressed with both delivery and content and we look forward to having them back in the future.
