An Overview of Train the Trainer

ABOUT

Train the Trainer is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to deliver effective training on cyberbullying and sextortion identification, prevention, and intervention within their own school communities. With digital communications evolving rapidly, it is essential to stay informed about how cyberbullying affects youth across platforms and how to respond appropriately.

After completing Train the Trainer, SST Certified Instructors are equipped with the knowledge and resources to deliver cyberbullying educational sessions to their own district staff and teams. Instructors will receive a two-year Safer Schools Together certification to conduct cyberbullying sessions. After completing Train the Trainer, SST Certified Instructors are provided with an array of meticulously updated training resources, tools, and presentation decks to facilitate their own in-house educational sessions.

Participants will explore current strategies to support individuals who have been impacted by cyberbullying, as well as those who have engaged in this behavior. This enhanced training will focus on equipping future trainers to deliver content confidently and competently, including how to facilitate case-based discussions and promote safe, connected learning environments.

Yes! The Train the Trainer: Cyberbullying training has prerequisites that must be completed prior to the Train the Trainer session. The prerequisites are the Foundations of School Safety Module and Cyberbullying Module via ICDTA®

The duration of the Train the Trainer is as follows:

Total hours: 10 hours

  • Prerequisites: 4 hours
  • Train the Trainer Cyberbullying session: 6 hours

Yes! To become a Certified Instructor, there are a few conditions one must agree to prior to the Train the Trainer session. The complete agreement can be found here.

  1. Employment in a Relevant Role
    • You must be employed by an organization that supports individuals in high-stress or crisis environments. Common roles include:
      • Educators
      • Behavioral intervention specialists
      • Healthcare professionals
      • Security or safety officers
      • Direct support professionals
      • Law Enforcement
  2. Organizational Support
    • You must have written approval or support from your employer. Your organization should be committed to implementing SST’s de-escalation and crisis intervention practices.
  3. Time Commitment
    • Be able to attend the Full Day Instructor Certification Program
    • After initial certification, renewal is required every two years.
  4. Willingness to Train Others
    • This is a Train-the-Trainer course. You must be committed to facilitating training within your organization.
  5. Access to SST Materials
    • After certification, instructors are provided materials (tools, resources, etc.), and your organization will need to provide their class trainees with materials when delivering training.
