Please note: The prerequisite for this training is the Behavioral & Digital Threat Assessment® Training.

The Advanced Behavioral and Digital Threat Assessment® (BDTA) builds on the foundational skills from Behavioral and Digital Threat Assessment®, focusing on factors that impact the threat assessment at each stage, advanced Digital Threat Assessment® techniques, strategic interviews, and practical application through interactive case scenarios and tabletops.

Behavioral and Digital Threat Assessment® is the first blended multidisciplinary model designed to help Safety/Threat Assessment teams in the early identification and assessment of individuals on the pathway to violence. BDTA® integrates Safer Schools Together’s Digital Threat Assessment® (DTA) training and best practice from the National Threat Assessment Center’s (NTAC) Behavioral Threat Assessment model, which is founded on more than 20 years of research. BDTA® includes a 3-step response plan developed to help teams ensure all worrisome, concerning, and threat-related behaviors are proactively responded to, reducing the potential of violence within your community.

This training will include:

  • Review of Behavioral and Digital Threat Assessment®
  • Common themes and considerations during steps 1, 2, and 3 of Behavioral and Digital Threat Assessment®
  • General understanding of issues to be considered to make an appropriate referral for external supports
  • Practice and refine skills in conducting strategic interviews
  • Language analysis during interviews
  • Legal and primary considerations for BDTA®
  • Advanced DTA® techniques to assess and manage risk
  • Assessing and responding to anonymous threat
  • Best practices when creating intervention/management and safety plans
  • Progress monitoring
  • Inventory of care support and services
  • Fully interactive case scenarios
