This workshop will discuss the special consideration necessary to ensure your threat assessment processes do not violate special education protocols and procedures. How IDEA, 504, and ADA Title II “Direct Threat Standard” intersect with threat assessment and the considerations needed to ensure districts are complying with federal law will be presented. Best practice guidance regarding parent permission versus notification, information sharing, discipline, and change in programming and/or placement decisions will be discussed. In addition, knowledge gained in serving as an expert witness in court cases involving threat assessment, targeted violence and suicidal ideation will be highlighted.

SST’s general cancellation policy states that tickets for their training sessions are non-refundable. If specific cancellation policies apply, they would typically be detailed at the time of registration or on the event’s information page.
Safer Schools Together (SST) reserves the right to cancel or reschedule training. If SST cancels or reschedules training due to weather or unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of SST, you are entitled to a full refund, but SST is not responsible for travel arrangements, travel fees, or any expenses incurred by you as a result of such cancellation. If SST cancels a training in which you are enrolled, you will be contacted at the email address you provided when registering, so please be sure to provide a valid email address.
Any cancellation or transfer made by a participant needs to be in writing. If the registration fee has already been paid, a credit will be applied for a future training course unless a refund is specifically requested by the agency at the time of cancellation. A $50.00 administrative fee will be applied for any refund processed, and a $25.00 transfer fee will be charged for any transfers between classes or attendees. Any request for a refund must be done 10 days prior to the training date.
An email will be sent to attendees 2 business days prior to the event date with the Zoom information to join this session. Please look out for this email and check your spam/junk folder in case it is routed there.
If you can no longer attend a training after registering, you should contact SST directly as soon as possible. While the general policy indicates that tickets are non-refundable, we may provide options, such as transferring your registration to another session or another individual, subject to their terms and availability.
Yes, SST accepts purchase orders (POs) for training purchases. Please contact our Operations team to arrange payment via PO and provide the necessary documentation.
